Getting The Big Picture -- Instantly

Fred - Welcome back. Love the newsletter. Missed you during your move. Quick help needed. I have a picture (jpg file) that I would like to use as a screen saver. How do I do that (convert jpg to scr). Secondly, I would like to create shortcut to the screen saver and put it on the desktop so I can close my PC in one click. --- Padam

To view a picture as your screensaver, simply create a folder anywhere on your system and place your photograph inside. Right click on the desktop, choose Properties, then click on the Screen Saver tab. In the Screen saver box, click on the down arrow to view the drop-down menu. Choose My Pictures Slideshow. Click on the settings button and configure how you'd like your picture to appear. Click OK when you're done.

Of course, you can put as many pictures in that folder as you like, and the screen saver will cycle through them.

Placing a shortcut on the desktop that launches this screen saver is very simple. Search or browse the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder to find the file ssmypics.scr. Use the right mouse button to drag and drop it to the desktop, then click Create Shortcuts Here from the context menu.
