Zip Central, 7-Zip

Fred: Thanks for weeks and weeks of great PC help and entertainment - been a Plus subscriber now for a year and can't do without my weekly dose of "Fred Plus".

Now for the real reason that caused me to Ctrl+N and send this off to you.  Take a good look at Zip Central:  it is and has always been free, has every bell and whistle on it that a zip file would want.

Also allows Right Click archiving, drag and drop, Damaged archives can be repaired, files can be password protected, and the file compression levels are variable

Thank you, Holly. Indeed, the free ZIP tools have been getting better and better. ZIPcentral is nice; so is a different tool, 7-Zip ( http://www.7-zip.org/ ). I have a subscription to WinZip, so I still use that on my main PC, but I've been installing 7-Zip on other boxes as their WinZip licenses expire.

Nice to have choices, isn't it? <g>
